Description
Hemisphere GNSS
Hemisphere GNSS has provided industry leading positioning technology for over twenty years since their inception in 2002. Specializing in positioning, they provide positioning receivers and antennas to a variety of industries, including; Marine, Agriculture, Survey, UAV, Autonomous vehicles and more. Having started in agriculture with the well-known Outback brand, they have since branched out providing the best value positioning instruments on the market.
Hemisphere has built a reputation on providing high-performance, high-precision and reliable GNSS positioning solutons for a fair and just price. They design their products to be easy to integrate, and to take care of the latest available signals and satellite constellations. With one of the best RTK and positioning engines on the market, you can take these receivers into locations you never would have dreamed with other technology.
Hemisphere is headquartered in Scottsdale Arizona, and pride themselves on being an American company. With headquarters in Arizona and an office in Kentucky, there is no need to send your equipment overseas for repair, or to deal with tech support that does not speak your language and is not in your time zone. Everything is done in North America, and works their support is available when you are actually working.
The Hemisphere S631
The Hemisphere S631 is the latest RTK receiver from Hemisphere. Having taken lessons from the previous generation S321 and S320, the S631 is their best offering yet. With the latest RTK engine and RTK board on offer from Hemisphere, the S631 can out perform anything on the market in difficult environments.
The S631 can receive corrections from all of the major constellations, with the ability to receive all available L5 signals. What this means for you in the field is better performance under trees and near buildings.

Multi-Path Mitigation - Athena RTK
The Phantom 40 GNSS board by Hemisphere boasts the best RTK engine on the market for mitigating multi-path noise. Multi-path noise is created when signals are reflected off of a surface before reaching the receiver. When this happens, the signal timing, which is what the reciever relies upon to calculate a position, is affected. In order to calculate an accurate and repeatable position, the RTK engine must be able to eliminate these bad signals.
The S631 uses the Athena RTK engine to remove these bad signals from the solution. The S631 can also use Hemisphere’s SureFix technology. With SureFix, two independant and different RTK engines calculate two independant solutions. Only once the two solutions are in agreement, will the fixed solution be reported.
The Hemisphere S631 utilizes the Phantom 40 RTK chip and the Athena RTK engine to have the best in class under canopy performance. With the ability to track every available L5 signal, and fix on any constellation, the S631 can out perform the biggest names in the industry. Check below to see how the S631 stacks up against the older generation S321+ and the latest RTK receivers from Trimble, Leica, and Sokkia.
Advanced IMU Tilt Sensor
The S631 boasts an internal Inertial Motion Sensor (IMU). What the IMU allows the receiver to do is record accurate and reliable positions, even when the pole is tilted. This allows you to speed up your work by up to 50% when laying out.
The IMU integrates motion and RTK data into the solution. What this means is that as you move around, the tilt sensor gains a better idea of where it is, improving results. Unlike previous generation receivers, there is no difficult and cumbersome calibration routine. All you need to do is rock the receiver back and forth for 30 seconds and you are ready to start surveying.
Tilt allows you to drastically speed up your work pace, as you do not ever have to stop to level your pole. You can place your pole on the ground and take your shot, without ever looking at the bubble.
Extended Range, Battery Life, and Rugged Durability
The S631 has an internal 1 Watt Satel radio, that is capable of broadcasting many of the most common survey protocols including; TrimTalk, Pacific Crest, TrimMark and Satel. The internal radio is capable broadcasting out to a range of 7 miles, and can regularly achieve 3-4 miles with no line of site in a city environment. And if that range is not sufficent, you can always use StormCaster to broadcast your corrections over a cellular network. This eliminates the downsides of radio, while allowing for an infinite amount of range.
In order to protect the Phantom 40 board, and the long-range internal Satel radio, the S631 boasts an IP67 rating. This means that you can use the S631 come rain, sluch, dust and sun. It will be more than sufficent to stand up to the conditions you will see on site. The magnesium shell also protects against drops and accidents on site. Rated for a two meter pole drop onto concrete, the S631 can withstand anythig you throw at it.
The internal batteries in the S631 are designed to be as efficient as possible, with up to 12 hours of continuous operation possible. The internal batteries are also removeable, in order to make at easy as possible to keep working. There is no need to wait for the unit to charge once you run out of power. You can hot swap the internal batteries, so that you do not need to stop working. With the smart indicator on battery health, the S631 is the perfect solution for those who are working a long day in the field.
Hemisphere CW400
